SPRING!

I can not believe it is May already! The year is going by so fast. We've been pretty busy around here as my hubby has been back at work for a month.

In the last few weeks the weather has really started to warm up and we've gotten to get out and enjoy creation. This past weekend we went hiking, and then yesterday we went to feed the ducks and saw a swan!

Our hiking trip was rather impromptu. We were hoping to go see a local waterfall but then when we got there we realized we'd have to hike to find it! We never found the waterfall, but we had fun and we'll be going back to hunt for the waterfall again.

Can you see my hubby sitting out there???

Our 4 year old took this picture :o)

Then yesterday I had some errands to run and the girls were being so well behaved I decided to stop at a local spot that is know for having ducks.

We were blessed by the special treat of also getting to see a swan! The girls were so excited.

We would've had even more fun, but I got scared of a goose that seemed like he might not like that we were feeding the ducks and not him! lol

Happy *BIBLICAL* New Year!

The new year is upon us and you know what that means??? Pesach {Passover} is right around the corner!

And the Lord spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt saying,This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you. -Exodus 12:1-2

In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the Lord's passover. -Leviticus 23:5

With Pesach comes some SERIOUS spring cleaning in order to get the chametz {leaven} out of our homes, and hearts.

Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread; even the first day ye shall put away leaven out of your houses: for whosoever eateth leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from Israel. And in the first day there shall be an holy convocation, and in the seventh day there shall be an holy convocation to you; no manner of work shall be done in them, save that which every man must eat, that only may be done of you. And ye shall observe the feast of unleavened bread; for in this selfsame day have I brought your armies out of the land of Egypt: therefore shall ye observe this day in your generations by an ordinance for ever. In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at even, ye shall eat unleavened bread, until the one and twentieth day of the month at even.Seven days shall there be no leaven found in your houses: for whosoever eateth that which is leavened, even that soul shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he be a stranger, or born in the land.Ye shall eat nothing leavened; in all your habitations shall ye eat unleavened bread. -Exodus 12:15-20

There are SO many products that have leaven in them. So as you'r preparing for Pesach remember to read ALL labels. When in doubt I just make sure to get products that are labeled kosher for passover, which saves me a little bit of hassle. I'm also planning to make my own matzah! We will most likely be buying some but I'm going to make some as well. Our meals will probably get pretty creative since we eat a lot of bread around here.

The big clean will be starting soon and we'll be very careful about what we bring into the house.

What are some of your tips for cleaning and staying leaven free?

Spring

IT'S SPRING! YAY! I love spring (and fall) it's not too hot and not too cold. Everything feels just right! This spring its even more exciting because we're gearing up to celebrate the spring feasts! So I've decided to start a series called "Spring Has Sprung!" to highlight what we're doing around here for Spring.

The First thing I'm supper excited to share is my indoor "garden" It's very small right now because this is our test run. I've never really grown anything but hubby and I think it would be really cool to grow our own food. Hopefully one day we will have tons of space to do so but right now we have to start small. Really small lol
The small plant is strawberries and the larger one is tomatoes! :o)

Another project that hubby is working on is our bathroom. The tile floor was really a mess and needs to be replaced. But since we rent instead of doing all that hubs had a brilliant idea to make our bathroom BEAUTIFUL. I still need to find new curtains and such so when I do that I will update with the whole bathroom.

Before
After

This really is a great time of year! A time of renewal and fresh starts! Are you doing anything special for spring?
